Wushu is a modern martial art recognized as a traditional sport of China. The movements in wushu are based on combat techniques, incorporating fighting movements such as kicks, fist blows, grappling, joint locking, falling, and pressure point striking. Wushu strongly accentuates grace, speed, strength, flexibility, and grandeur. It is extremely important that strong basic wushu skills are developed before practicing the advanced forms and weapons.
