AKA Grand Nationals 2007
In its 42nd year, the AKA Grand Nationals has grown to be one of the most prestigious tournaments in the United States. Under the leadership of Promoter, John Sharkey, Jr. it has earned a reputation for attracting competitors from all organizations, regardless of their affiliations. Competitors, spectators, and friends of all ages and ranks are invited to enjoy this MAC Sports production of the AKA Grand Nationals. It is a weekend filled with a showcase of the best and brightest stars martial arts has to offer. The 2007 AKA Grand Nationals, a NASKA sanctioned event, covered by MAC Sports, was held at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Illinois. It featured 369 total divisions, 33 Grand Championships, and 5 Warrior Cups. AKA Grand Nationals have awarded Warrior Cups to the overall grand champions. Past winners are legends of the sport - Cynthia Rothrock, Mike Chaturatanbut, Steve "Nasty" Anderson, and Brian Ruth - to name a few. In 2007 that tradition continues by offering a Warrior Cup to the winners of a runoff between the overall grand champions of selected divisions.
